JANUARY, FEBRUARY & MARCH 2012

TECHNIQUE CLASSES

A deposit equal to one half of the class fee is due at the time of signup – including phone and Internet signups. The fee does not include the materials needed to complete class projects.

Note: Minimum attendance: four participants, or classes will be canceled and fees will be refunded.

Classes will start on time - be sure to purchase materials in advance.

 

Look for samples of the projects in the store. NOTE: The actual cost of materials will depend upon what is chosen for beads and findings.

 

STUDENTS receive 10% off materials bought for a class.

 

JANUARY

WEEK 1: Saturday, Jan. 21:

BEADING FUNDAMENTALS. Learn the simple but necessary steps to stringing beads professionally. You’ll learn about stringing materials, tools, findings, beads and how to get started beading while you create a necklace. Fee is $25. No pre-requisite. The class will be 10:30 to noon on Jan. 21.

 

WIRE BASICS. Learn the basic techniques of twisting, shaping and wrapping wire. You’ll get to experiment with wire-working tools and learn the loop, a simple wire wrap and the basis of earring construction. No pre-requisite. Fee is $25. The class will take place 2:30-4:30 p.m. Jan. 21.

 

WEEK 2: Saturday, Jan. 28:

NEW!! ST. PETERSBURG STITCH. This Russian stitch features an unusual, asymmetrical technique – and it’s becoming increasingly popular with beaders. You’ll learn single St. Petersburg Chain, but the instructor will also discuss working the double version. No pre-requisite. Fee is $25. The class will be 10:30 to 12:30 noon. Jan. 28.

 

NEW!! TO BEAD OR NOT TO BEAD. In this new class, you’ll learn how to do the intricate braiding known as kumihimo, and you’ll choose whether to add beads (or not!) to your piece. Once you learn this amazingly simple technique, it is easy to change it up using different materials and types of beads to make variations. No pre-requisite. Fee is $25. The class will be held 1:30 -4:30 p.m. Jan. 28.

 

FEBRUARY

WEEK 1: Saturday, Feb. 4:

NEW!! CRYSTAL EMBELLISHMENT. This new class features a right-angle weave base that is topped with a luscious array of pearls and crystals. No pre-requisite. Fee is $25. The class will be held 1:30 -4:00 p.m. Feb. 4.

 

NEW!! GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!! This new class features sparkling little orbs that look gorgeous on their own as the centerpiece of a necklace or clustered together for a drop-dead presentation. Some beading experience required.  Fee is $25. The class will be held 1:30 -4:30 p.m. Feb. 4.

 

 

WEEK 2: Saturday Feb.11:

DOUBLE SPIRAL BRACELET.  In this class, you’ll learn to make a seed bead double spiral rope that can be used for bracelets, necklaces, pocketbook straps and more. The class will take place 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb 11. No pre-requisite. Fee is $25.

 

VIKING KNIT BRACELET (Part 1). In this beginner’s class, you’ll learn the ancient art of knitting wire without needles using a few simple tools to create a gorgeous bracelet. No pre-requisite. Fee is $25. The class will be held 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 11.

 

WEEK 3: Saturday, Feb. 18:

CHAINED LEATHER WRAP BRACELET. In this class, you’ll learn how to make a leather-and-chain wrap bracelet, a new version of the Chan Luu look that is all the rage in the fashion world now. No pre-requisite. Fee is $25. The class will be held from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 25.

 

NEW!!DIAGONAL RIGHT ANGLE WEAVE. In this new class, you’ll create a gorgeous bracelet that highlights the simple beauty of this stitch. This class is for experienced beaders who are familiar with RAW. Fee is $25. The class will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 25.  

 

MARCH

WEEK 1: Saturday, March 3:

TIME FOR TILAS.  Don’t know what to do with the new Tila beads? We’ve got new colors in stock and we’ve got the perfect project for you to get a handle on working with these double-holed flat beads. Fee is $25. No pre-requisite. The class will be 1:30-4:30 p.m. March 3.

 

NEW!! WIRED CRYSTAL HOOPS. In this class, you’ll use wire and Swarovski crystals to create elegant hoop earrings - a classic design that is equally at home with jeans or formal wear! Fee is $25. No pre-requisite. The class will be held from 1:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 3.

 

 

WEEK 2: March 10:

PEARLS ON EDGE.  If you like the Chan Luu look, then you’ll love this class, which combines elegant pearls with leather for a necklace with attitude! This stunner uses large-holed beads and leather – and there a few tricks to making it work. Fee is $25. No pre-requisite. The class will take place 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. March 10.

 

ENCASED CRYSTAL CHAINMAILLE BRACELET. Call it bling with a hard edge – our new bracelet incorporates two of our most favorite things, Swarovski crystals and chain maille.  Fee is $30.The class will take place from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. March 10. No pre-requisite.

 

 

WEEK 3: March 17:

BASIC PEYOTE STITCH. Learn the simple steps to creating peyote, a classic stitch that  is one of the foundations of beading. In this class, you’ll create peyote beads that can be combined to make a bracelet or necklace. Fee is $25. No pre-requisite. The class will be 10:30 to noon March 17.

 

NEW!!BEAD BURST. In this new class, you’ll form a cluster of beads edged with a delicate fringe – these little bursts of color will be used to create a pair of earrings. Fee is $25. The class will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 17.

CLASSES RESUME in APRIL!!!!!

 

***NOTICE--Class Deposit/Refund Policy--Effective July 1, 2004*** If a student needs to cancel out of a class, they must do so 48 hours before the class begins. Cancellations made 48 hours before the class meets will qualify for a store credit coupon in the amount paid toward the class. Cancellations less than 48 hours before the class and “no shows” will forfeit the deposit and it will be paid to the class instructor.

If a class is cancelled by the Bead Emporium, a refund will be issued.  Store credit coupons become the responsibility of the student and will expire one year after the issue date. The coupon must be presented at the time the student wishes to use it. Bead Emporium will not maintain records on who has or has not used their store credit coupon.
